Hop on a train and within minutes you'll reach
the Shonan regions small island Enoshima.
Only an hour from Tokyo, it's Tokyo's closest beach
making it the place to go to during the summer.
Enoshima is so much more than just a Pacific Ocean beach though,
it also has aquariums, caves, shrines, and local cuisine
so even during other seasons Enoshima is a great one-day vacation spot.
In addition, for those who like Japanese TV shows (dramas)
and anime you may have seen scenes shot in Shonan and Enoshima!
Such as the Shin-Enoshima Aquarium in "Shooting Star"
(流れ星; Nagareboshi),
and a train track in front of a beach in the famous basketball anime,
"Slam Dunk" (スラムダンク).
Before arriving at Enoshima,
you should stop at shopping mall JOINUS,
which is connected to Yokohama Station first.
If you need to pick up a few things like sunblock,
sunglasses or anything JOINUS is a great place to get what you need and to go.
However,
if you plan on going around Enoshima there's a special ticket
you have to get first from there!
