#Tokyo Night Scene ♬ Japanese Samurai Feudal Lord Cruise around Tokyo Bay with Gozabune Atakemaru

Take a night cruise around Tokyo Bay
on a ship that's a replica of an Edo era Japanese battleship!!
These ships were crucial in defending and uniting the nation.
Plus, an entertaining Japanese performance like none other!
From start to finish, you are in for a treat!!

🌛🚢Gozabune Atakemaru Samurai Cruise🚢🌜

#Tokyo Night Scene ♬ Japanese Samurai Feudal Lord Cruise around Tokyo Bay with Gozabune Atakemaru

Ruler of the Sea

The Gozabune Samurai Ship is a replica of a samurai warship
during the Kanei (寛永) period under the political figure Tokugawa Iemitsu.
Looking at the red, gold, and black color scheme really resonates with Japanese culture,
however Gozabune Samurai Ship is also influenced with Western engineering.

The Gozabune Atakemaru concept
is to combine the pleasure of a night cruise through Tokyo Bay
with the pleasant relaxation of dinner theatre.

On this ship there's
wonderful performances and great food!
We've never seen anything like it before!

Boarding the Amazing Gozabune Atakemaru
🚢🌛 Samurai Evening Cruise 🌜🚢

Departure(^_^)/~~

There are two different cruises,
the Sunset Cruise and the Samurai Evening Cruise.
This time we took the Samurai Evening Cruise
which boards from 7:15pm and sails from 7:45pm.
The Gozabune Samurai Cruise takes you all around Tokyo Bay,
bringing you back to where you started at 9:15pm.

Be sure to take lots of pictures of the ship before you board!
If you think the outside is beautiful,
wait until you board

Once You Board Gozabune Atakemaru

Once you board the ship, there are box seats to the left
which is perfect for those who want enjoy the scenery during the cruise.
They are also surrounding the bar, so it's great access🍻

Dining and performance area
To the right (once you board) is this spacious area
that really gets you in the mood!
The stage and dining area has a 100%
 total Japanese atmosphere!
We fell in love at first sight💖

The dancers are all so beautiful, cheery,
and dressed like Japanese oiran.
Despite the origin of Japanese oiran,
they were masters of art, performances, and fashion
that is admired and a muse to many even today.
The dancers do a opening performance
then come out in the audience and kanpai (cheers!)
with everyone!!
This is the opportune time to talk and get a picture with them!!

Boat Schedule
7:15pm Boarding time
7:45 Departure time
7:50 Dinner starts
(from this time you can explore the boat!
Be sure to check out the deck once it gets darker!)
8:40 Performance/Show begins
9:05 Souvenir photo time
(on the stage with dancers)
9:15 Arrive back at the harbor

Go to the Deck to Enjoy Tokyo Bay's Night View

We thought this staircase looked like something from Kill Bill!🗡
Take these stairs to go out to the deck!
From there you get to see the night scenery around Tokyo Bay.
Everything about this cruise is SO beautiful and exciting!!!

7:50 RAINBOW BRIDGE  7:55 DAIBA
Have a nice little Titanic moment in front of Rainbow Bridge
which links the heart of Tokyo to Tokyo's waterfront🌉
You often see this bridge in movies and TV shows,
so be sure to go out and take a picture!!

OOI WHARF
Ooi Wharf is the largest container terminal in Tokyo Bay
and apparently even the world!!
The shape and color pattern of the cranes
sort of makes them look like massive robot giraffes!

You wouldn't really think to take of going out of your way to see container terminals,
but at night their warm orangish-red color is really lovely to see at night.

TOKYO GATE BRIDGE
Tokyo Gate Bridge is also called the Dinosaur Bridge
since it sort of looks like two Brontosaurus dinosaurs looking at one another.
The bridge was completed in 2012 and is a popular place to see Mt. Fuji.
While on the Samurai Cruise, you can also Tokyo Skytree!
In fact, if you look at the back left side in the picture you can see Tokyo Skytree!

TOKYO TOWER!
This time Tokyo Tower wasn't shining orange light.
It's a bit of a shame because that's how people identify Tokyo Tower.
Even still, it's still very beautiful!

TOKYO SKYTREE
Something not many people know is that there is a reason behind
Tokyo Skytree's light color scheme.
It's always blue and purple
But why? What does it mean?
Blue is "Iki", the spirit of Edo, and purple is "Miyabi", its aesthetics.
They express the concept that today is connected to tomorrow',
and the future expands beyond that.

The dancers come out onto the deck and talk with everyone,
so if you didn't get a picture with them earlier,
now is your chance!
Getting a picture with them on the deck
with the Tokyo Bay night sky behind you
is perfect in our opinion!

Eat Delicious Food in Traditional Japanese Fashion

Our reservation included the Tsukiji Barbecue Cocktail Banquet!
The food was super rich, fresh, and delicious!!!

The entire menu was:
Raw tuna rib (nakaochi, 中落ち)
Slices of raw tuna
Salted tuna cut from the gill
Tuna tail bone cooked with vegetables and served in a rich broth
Minced tuna sushi topped with finely sliced green onions
Soup
Amuse-bouche

When we saw the tuna rib
we couldn't believe what was being brought out to us!
It. was. MASSIVE!!!
Looking at it, you'd think it was bloody, but it wasn't at all!
The waiter told us that the traditional way of eating this
was by scooping the meat with a clam shell.
Such a cool experience that you can't get anywhere else!!

There sashimi skewers that were super yummy and creamy.
Constantly eating raw fish can sometimes get tiring,
so for that reason the  black tuna that was covered in a nice sauce
to give you that well balanced and still fresh taste.

Something important to mention is that where the main course is tuna,
you can choose the food menu you want when you make reservations.
They have meat courses, vegetarian courses, even halal courses!!!
Where the Gozabune Atakemaru Samurai Cruise's specialty is Tsukiji tuna,
if all this fish turns you off you can easily order something else.

8:40 It's Showtime

Dancing, singing, playing instruments, drinking, eating...
If you thought the opening was good, you're in for a real treat
because this is when all the fun begins!!

The show is in Japanese but not to worry!
If you don't understand anything, there is an Indonesian staff member
that stands off to the side of the stage with a microphone and translates.

SPECTACULAR Song and Dance Performances

We had permission to shoot, however normally during the performance photography isn't allowed :(
The performers on the Gozabune Atakemaru Cruise are made up of
the Shiki (Four Seasons) Theatrical Company here in Japan.
Dressed in colorful kimonos and lavish hair pieces,
the performers do song and dance routines accompanied by
drums and stringed instruments using fans as props.
Their movements are so beautiful and precise
as their songs resonates in the Oedo Theatre.
They are like sirens,
the moment they begin,
you're drawn in and can't look away♬

The performances are a mix of some traditional Japanese dance styles
like courtesan (oiran) and kabuki style.
In typical Japanese fashion,
the performances change to match the season.
