Best Natural Onsen (Hot Spring) in Tokyo ♨ Enjoying a Traditional Hot Spring at Toshimaen Niwa-No-Yu (豊島園庭の湯)

A Natural Hot Spring in Tokyo
Japan is a country of hot springs that brings many foreign tourists to visit while traveling in Japan. However, some of the most famous hot springs, such as Hakone, are located a bit out there so time and budget constraints are imminent at times.

This article is for those who want to go to a relaxing hot spring but don't want or able to travel out of Tokyo.

Toshimaen Niwa-no-Yu (豊島園 庭の湯) is located within one of Tokyo's amusement park Toshimaen and is only 12 minutes by train from Ikebukuro.
You can get to Toshimaen Station on either the Toei Oedo Line or Seibu Toshima Line.

There are of course lockers in the changing room but there are also security lockers to store your valuables.

The key to your locker in the locker/changing room key should always be carried with you. There are things available like hair dryers, skincare products, and even a big part of Japan's "hot springs culture" a vending machine of filled with fresh milk.

Bath and Sauna Facilities
Japanese gardens surrounding open-air baths are not in short supply compared to any hot spring ryokan. They don't have cherry blossoms sadly, but during the fall the area is covered with beautiful autumn leaves in autumn, and sometimes snow in winter.

A Natural Hot Spring in Tokyo
Usually, small bathhouses and hot springs in cities bring in hot spring water from other local hot springs and heat up the water to use, but at Toshimaen Niwa-no-Yu, they use real hot spring water from around 1,445m underground Toshimaen! Apparently, they were digging and just came about natural hot springs water, which brought them to build a hot spring.

Furthermore, there are various types of hot spring water here such as sodium hot spring (its main source) and carbonated hot spring. In particular, Niwa-no-Yu is most known for its sodium hot springs water which not only makes your skin feel smooth but has a thermal effect on your body. Then the carbonate springs promote blood circulation and a good metabolism.
