☆~GUNMA TRAVEL~☆
Do you know about Gunma's penis museum?!
**contains some slightly visual images**

To some people, foreign and Japanese,
hearing there is a penis museum in Japan surprises them.
What gets them more,
is that there isn't just one or two of these erotic museums or events...
there's lots all over!!!!
Does anyone go out of their way to travel to these places though?
Well...we did!!

Well...we did!!
While in Gunma,
we went to the famous Chinpo-kan!
Gunma's Chinpo-kan
็ๅฎ้คจ
First of all,
the wordplay is great.
In Japanese chinpo (ใใณใ) is like a cute word for penis.
Kan (้คจ) is like building
(can see used with 'movie theatre', 'library' 'museum', etc.).
The chinpo used here though is slightly different because for one,
it's actually chinpou (ใกใใฝใ),
making it a different word.
The chinpou used for the museum written in Chinese characters
is like "hidden treasures".
So basically,
it's a museum of hidden treasures!!
Which I would have to agree with completely!
๐The best way to get to the emphamis Chinpo-kan
is by taking a taxi from Yagihara Station (ๅ ซๆจๅ้ง ).
If you have a car,
the Chinpo-kan is near the Toy, Doll, & Car Museum.
Address: 3366 Kaminoda, Yoshioka-cho, Kita Gunma-gun, Gunma

When we went inside,
there was an elderly man sitting at a counter watching TV
while a young boy, I'm guessing his grandson,
was hanging out with him coloring.
The small room was just filled with penis stuff.
It was so funny just seeing a kid hang out there like it was nothing.
We gave the man our money,
and he told us to go around to the back where the museum is.
There are two builds,
the first one we went to was on the left (the new building).
As we walked by to go in the first building of the museum,
the emphasis Man-cho walks out!
We were star struck!
She owns the museum and gives tours,
and we were so lucky enough to be able to join!
FYI - She is called the "Man-cho",
because in Japanese manko means vagina or pussy,
and ~cho, is added for like bosses.
Again,
the wordplay is the best!!!

So on with the tour!!
The Man-cho kept making jokes about how every guy there had small penises
and their women were always ready for action
just as soon as the men fixed "their problem of getting erect".
Chinpo-kan recently remodeled,
so the building on the left was the new building!
The first half was just filled with old art work
of people having sex mostly,
with a few figures and statues.
of people having sex mostly,
with a few figures and statues.
Can you guess figure out how many women are in this Oni's face? |
I didn't understand the point of this cute round lady figure
next to the naked women Oni dish...
But then the Man-cho showed us!
...vaginas!
We never would've guessed!
There was a statue of a goddess at the end
for women to pray against STD's and other diseases.
Offering 5yen is supposed to be the best,
so that's what I did!
When you walk into the new building,
the first thing most likely to catch your eye is a giant wooden trunk.
At first glance,
we didn't see what this had to do with penises...
but then the Man-cho showed us.
The plank inside is a penis and the trunk is a woman's legs/vagina.
The Man-cho took out the plank,
tapped it on the "vagina" 3 times,
then shoved it back in with massive force.
I's supposed to be a ceremony
to pray for the "proper functioning" of you guy's penis!
So of course....
I had to try.
Not because my husband has an issue,
it's just funny!
There were a lot of those sort of cultural/religious statues.
Like for those who have difficulties getting pregnant.
I personally really liked the way people decided to put their coins.

Then on to the second building!
It didn't fit. |
The older building had all sorts of figures and artifacts,
where the new building had more old art and religious statues.
Where the new building was fun,
the older building had more interesting things to look at.
There was very little information and if there was any, it was all in Japanese.
So for some you might not know what you're looking
or the purpose of these things.
Everything is Japanese culturally and historically related
and knowing that puts a different filter on the way one views Japan.
Nothing like a giant shrine that has about 100 penises carved from wood!
It was really funny seeing some well known
traditional Japanese figures and faces
made into something erotic.
The eyes on the mating tanuki will forever haunt my dreams.
There were even old erotic photos from the Showa era!
What was really cool about these is that in the Showa era,
the only thing that was allowed to be shown in erotic photos was armpit hair.
But these showed more than that.
So the fact that Chinpo-kan found and had these photos is awesome!
The gift shop was filled with lots of sex related goods!
We only got a metal penis key chain/phone charm that says Chinpo-kan on it!
Yes, she's touching my vagina! |
Chinpo-kan is in the middle of nowhere.
We made an effort to stop by on the way to the Gunma Silk Museum
and SOO glad we did!
It's a really new side of Japan
that we were able to explore and learn about.
After going here,
we made it our mission to go to all the penis museums
in Japan!!
