1. Fun Thing's for the House!
 GEORGE'S   (B1)

GEORGE'S takes various kinds of miscellaneous goods used in everyday life
such as fashion, interior goods, and kitchen supplies.

Their kitchen supplies corner has a lot of fun but useful items for sale.
It was so much fun seeing all the things they had
we lost track of time! (^-^)

There are a variety of things like
cooking utensils, camping supplies, ingredients,
and anything else you could think of
in the kitchen article corner.

For something so simple, the design is really great and creative!
How did they possibly come up with such ideas?!
Cutting pizza by bicycle wheels, making eggs into yellow smiley faces...
it's like GEORGE'S kitchen utensils are joining the world of toys!

There was also a good amount of foreign or exotic like design items
such as gardening equipment and cushions.

Even their cleaning tools were nice and stylish!
Hard to believe they're actually meant to be used for cleaning and not design.

GEORGE'S is PACKED with
interesting and and inventive items.

It was like we were taken to an adult playhouse!
If you get tired of your current home interior, how about switching it up
with the miscellaneous goods of GEORGE'S?!

2. GOOD MEAT FOR ALL
Steak Joint   (B1)

"Steak Joint" is a specialty steak store
located on the restaurant floor at B1.

Steak Joint's interior theme is a US's southern sort of theme.
You'll see what we mean if you notice the giant Texas flag and cow print booth!
It's a super popular gourmet restaurant in JOINUS
that many go to if they're hankering some beef.

While the look of the restaurant is "the south!",
they use is high quality Australian, American, and Japanese beef.

We were very impressed with how they grilled the beef.
They grilled it over a big charcoal grill, giving off that authentic scent and taste!

There are three different steak sauces available;
original, garlic onion, and wafuu (Japanese style).
In many Western countries they say,
"a good steak doesn't need steak sauce",
which is very true!
And the steak at Steak Joint doesn't require
steak sauce at all.
However if you want to change things up a little bit
there are sauces there for you.
You might be surprised and find a sauce you love!
We tried it both with and without the sauce.
The steak was consistently juicy and tender, just like steak should be.
I wonder how they get their beef so tender though?!

For those whose stomach might not be able to handle steak,
those at Steak Joint recommend a roast beef combo.

It just looks like it's your regular tender roast beef over a bowl of rice,
but it seems to be a style that has became popular recently in Japanese cuisine.
Particularly with women, they prefer this to steak.

If you were to go to a luxury hotel to get the same sort of dishes,
your meal would wind up into the thousands of yen.
However at Steak Joint you can eat high end beef at a reasonable price.

We were charged 120% thanks to the energy we got from the delicious steak.

3. 117 Years Tradition Castella Specialty Store
Bunmeido (文明堂)   (1st floor)

'Bunmeido' is a castella specialty shop
that boasts being around for 117 years of history this year.

Originally castella was said to have been created under
the influence of Spanish missionaries that came to Nagasaki
on Portuguese ships in the 16th century.

Do you think you can buy castella at convenient stores too?
In Japan, giving castella to an important customer or sending it as a gift
is often seen as a high-class, luxurious gift.

For that reason, there's a 'Castella with a Message' section
in a corner of the shop.
If you put in a request one week in advanced,
you can also enter your name!

The castella made at Bunmeido is made with only the best materials carefully selected throughout the country, such as red beans from Hokkaido.

We bought one for ourselves to eat at the hotel.
The castella also makes a great treat separate from gifts to others.

It's not too sweet, incredible soft texture, melts in your mouth!
Bunmeido's castella can't even be compared
to the castella sold at convenience stores'.

4. Simple Yet Chic Women's Fashion Brand
KBF+   (4th floor)

"KBF+" is on the 4th floor of JOINUS and is a fashion brand that has gained great popularity among women in Japan for its unique, simple, and modern design.

Like other fashion forward countries, Japan is also very in tune with trends,
but the characteristics of KBF+ reflects the latest trend
while it sticks to its unique character as a brand.

In other words, even if it seems like a design from a while back,
it is almost like wearing a new item that came out this year!

When we visited KBF+, it was crowded with local women
who came to see the new products of spring/summer,
but the age group of the customers was very broad.
Which gave us the impression that KBF+ is for any woman
curious about the latest trends.

KBF+ is getting a lot of support from local chic and sophisticated women.

We think that those who are in tune to trends
and those who value individuality

will be highly satisfied with this brand store!

5. Hypoallergenic Cosmetics Made Naturally from Plants
HOUSE OF ROSE   (B1)

"HOUSE OF ROSE" on the basement floor is a cosmetic brand
whose main ingredients are natural.

House of Rose cosmetics is developed to cherish all types of skin
producing low irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin,
you should try some!

For example, their #1 popular series Milcure Pure is a cosmetics series
that moisturizes thoroughly using milk serum protein (whey)
from cows who were fed natural grass in Hokkaido.

Since the cosmetics are made from natural ingredients,
so we feel that it is safe to use without any hesitation or worry.
Even those who have very sensitive skin.

You can try most of the items in the store,
checking the fragrance, texture, and if any irritation occurs.
Which is a bonus.

During our visit, there was also a cool mint cosmetics "Mintleap" series
that is perfect for the hot summer season.

Recently it isn't very difficult to find cooling cosmetics,
the only issues is they may cause skin problems
due to the large amount of alcohol used making your skin tingle or itchy.
The mint lip series is made of nine different kinds of natural oils
with a refreshing fragrance such as lemon, mint, and rosemary.
As it keeps your skin moisturized with plant-derived ingredients,
you get a cooling sensation without the irritation!

In Japan, being a major powerhouse of cosmetics and beauty,
there's definitely ONE brand of cosmetics that's worth mentioning.
And that brand is House of Rose!

We usually buy one as a gift for friends, loved ones, or acquaintances
who might have sensitive skin.
Their cosmetics really are one of the must buy beauty lines.

6. 3 Noteworthy Points about JOINUS

POINT 1: While shopping, you can wear a yukata
atelier haruka PLUS HAIR CUT  (2nd floor)

JOINUS has various service facilities such as foreign currency exchange, dry cleaning, and massages in addition to food and shopping.

Among those, we were came across a store called
"atelier haruka PLUS HAIR CUT
on the second floor of JOINUS.

atelier haruka is generally a salon
that is mainly made up of hair, makeup, dress rental.

When it is necessary to get pampered from head to toe,
at times like wedding ceremonies and parties,
you can get everything needed done here at the same store!

The reason why we thought this particular store was unusual
is the 'yukata rental service' they have available!

Places like Asakusa and Kyoto are very fun places to walk around in a yukata,
and you can get the same experience in JOINUS.

Another thing is you aren't just picking out a yukata and putting it on yourself,
yukata professionals or experts help get you ready from start to finish.
They assist you in putting the yukata on properly and do your hair
to really get you into the mood!
We were really surprised!

If you come to Japan during the summer,
you've gotta try wearing a yukata at least once!

Wearing a yukata shopping around JOINUS
and going to the surrounding tourist spots!
We think that it's another way to enjoy Yokohama!
※their yukata rental summer special is until Sept. 10th (Sunday).

Pricing
👘Yukata rental = 4,000yen+tax
👘Yukata rental + dressing assistance = 7,00yen+tax

they'll tell you all that you need to know to get tax exemptions.

POINT 3: JOINUS's rooftop garden
"JOINUS's Forest" (ジョイナスの森)

On the rooftop of the JOINUS building, there is also special area called
"JOINUS Forest Sculpture Park".

The made the spot to be like a forest with lots of sculptures and trees
on the rooftop, with the hopes that everyone would use it.

There are approximately 20,000 trees and sculptures,
some of which have even won prizes.

Since there are always a lot of people around Yokohama Station,
there aren't many places in the area where you can rest.
The garden on the rooftop of JOINUS is a perfect place to do so,
mostly because it's free!!
What could be better than that?!

★JOINUS's Forest (ジョイナスの森)
Opening hours: March ~ Sept 10am-6pm
   Oct ~ Feb 10am-5pm

Yokohama is a popular sightseeing town
that is always ranked high among the Japanese and foreign tourists too!

However, there are plenty of people who do not know what there exactly is to do
other than seeing Minato Mirai at night.

Therefore, if you go to Yokohama, we think that 'JOINUS',
a place where various restaurants and brand shops are all in one place
is the place to be!

Are you looking for some of Yokohama's yummy shops or restaurants?
