Odakyu HALC
Outdoor Brands BEST 3
There are a lot of outdoor activities to do in Japan,so it makes sense that so many high-quality Japanese brands and
famous foreign outdoor brands for sale!
Especially recently,
now that the weather is getting cooler and it's becoming fall,
more people are hiking, following this years trekking trend.
We picked three most popular outdoor wear brands for a perfect hiking trip!

・.━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ ━━━━━━━━━━━━.・

The North Face +
There's a joke saying a sure way to spot an American tourist
is if they're wearing a North Face jacket!
We love our North Face!
Even President Obama does!

The North Face +
・Recommendation item 1・
Windbreakers/Jackets
The items sold at The North Face are different in every country.

The jackets sold at The North Face +  are heavy duty just and tailor cut,
but there's something special about their new item

that can protect you for any weather occasion!.

The Gore-Tex stretch woven polyester-elastane exterior
allows awesome mobility without any excess material
around the sleeves that non-stretch rainwear often has.

The North Face +
・Recommendation item 2・
・Shoes・
The are pretty strong and sturdy mid-cut hiker shoes
but they feature a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex materials.
For (primarily) hiking shoes,
they were surprisingly light!

❷ Columbia
Also a well known and famous brand,
Columbia changed the image of sports apparel into a design
that is fun to wear in everyday and fashion-oriented outdoor fashion.

We picked up some great Colombian products
that are climbing wear but also casual!

Columbia
・Recommendation item 1・
・Bags・
Lately Columbia backpacks are SO popular
and seen as fashionable among Japanese people.
Once we went to the Columbia store for ourselves
it was easy to see why.
Colombia's bags are very diverse!
They emphasize functionality and have a variety of sizes.

Columbia
・Recommendation item 2・
・Hats・
Coated with a waterproof substance,
light and breathable along with
helps block out harmful UVA and UVB rays,
Columbia hats are the best for any sort of outdoor activity.
Normally you would think such hats only come in simple, plain colors
but like their backpacks,
there's a lot of different styles and patterns of hats here.

AIGLE
It may not be very well know,
but Aigle is a French textile company that was founded in 1853!

AIGLE
・Recommendation item 1・
・(Rain) Boots・
AIGLE is particularly famous for their natural rubber boots.
They are still to this day handmaid,
so you can expect each pair to be special and original in their own way.
You can expect them to last a long time and be very comfortable to wear.

AIGLE
・Recommendation item 2・
・Raincoats・
What we LOVED about AIGLE's raincoats is that they're fold-able.
There's a little pocket that you can roll up the jacket and tuck into!
So if you're worried it's going to rain later but
don't want to wear a jacket now since it gets in the way,
you can just roll it up and put it in your bag until you need it!

Hiking Trip ~ from Shinjuku to Oyama
The Romance Car is a popular means of transportation for people going to just as popular sightseeing spots - Hakone, Enoshima, and the Kamakura area.

But the destination this time is "Tanzawa Oyama" (丹沢大山),
which is said to be THE place for hiking.

You can take the Romance Car to the nearest station "Isehara" (伊勢原),
then head to Oyama by a different train.

There are 2 ways you can get tickets for the Odakyu Romance Car?
1. On the internet!

2. Directly from the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center inside the station

You are welcome to ask any questions about travelling in Japan and
different kinds of leaflets are available here too!

 In Japan,
there is a culture of buying a lunch box
when traveling a long distance on a bullet train or another sightseeing train.
This lunch is called "ekiben" (station lunchbox),
and it's a compound word of the Japanese bento,
meaning lunch box,
and eki which means the station.

There is a food court in Odakyu Department Store
on the basement second floor of the same building.

They sell awesome high quality lunch boxes,
so we made sure to grab a nibble

before jumping on the train.
If you have some time to spare,
you might want to try one of these of your own!

The underground passage brings you to HALC’s second basement,
a smaller-scale food area compared to the one in the Main Building.
It has a fruit market, a fish counter, a bakery,
a juice counter and imported foods shops!

Where we got our lunch box
Shop name - Aji no Umebachi (味の梅ばち)
‣Located on B2 (Delicatessen & Specialty Foods)

Yonezawagyu Bento (Yonezawa beef valve): 1,836 yen (tax included)
