Tokyo Travel: Odaiba ● Announcing Summer Sale and JUMP Shop to Open at AQUA CiTY ODAIBA

Summer Sale and JUMP Shop to Open at
AQUA CiTY ODAIBA!
Odaiba Points of Interest
Lots to Do near Tokyo Bay

If you ask people around Tokyo what sort of place Odaiba is,
they are most likely to say it's a big date spot.
However,

if you go yourself you'll come to see that it is really so much more!
There are plenty of sightseeing spots such as the Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari, Statue of Liberty, Gundam statue, Fuji TV Building, Miraikan, etc.

Not far from the city center,
this man-made island has a beautiful overlook of Tokyo
and will also be one of the locations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!

The evening glow seen from the rooftop of Odaiba shopping mall, AQUA CiTY ODAIBA.
The Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari and the Odaiba Gundam.
Odaiba is a very popular place to visit among tourists.
One of the most popular places to stop by though is the island's
shopping facility
AQUA CiTY ODAIBA.
It is directly in front of the Odaiba Hilton Hotel,
which might very well be part of the reason so many tourists stop by.

Currently, AQUA CiTY ODAIBA is having a big sale!
So this time JAPANKURU thought it would introduce some of the mall's
popular stores, a new BBQ event that just opened,
and the details about AQUA CiTY ODAIBA summer sale.

It is really easy to get to Odaiba.
From JR Shinbashi Station get on the Yurikamome Monorail
and take it to Daiba Station or Odaiba-kaihinkōen Station
(about a 15min train ride).
Once you exit the station you will see FUJI TV to your right,
and Odaiba's famous Statue of Liberty and Rainbow Bridge to your left!

Inside the Shopping Mall
The biggest reason to introduce this massive shopping mall
is that there is more than just retail stores,
there are also interesting restaurants, pet stores,
a science education center, a movie theatre,
and even a multi-lingual robotic information guide
named Junko that will answer your questions!

You won't only see foreign brand stores, but popular Japanese stores as well.

Even if you don't plan on doing any shopping,
walking around this 6 story shopping mall is quite fun!

KABA BUS
In addition to shopping,
Odaiba is a great place to enjoy Tokyo Bay and Rainbow Bridge.
In 2017, the marine bus KABA BUS was introduced at AQUA CiTY ODAIBA
as a new land and water sightseeing experience!

"Kaba" means hippopotamus in Japanese,
so literally it is the hippopotamus bus🚌
Which explains the hippos all over and inside the bus.

You can get on the KABA BUS from the 1st floor of AQUA CiTY.
Once you board KABA BUS you will be given a driving tour of surrounding sites in Odaiba then from there you enter Tokyo Bay.
The tour comes with a headphone guide offered in
English, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Indonesian.
We went during the day,
but we are certain sunset will be just as stunning!

the store clerks recommended this pet-specific "health supplement."
It's a collagen ingredient,
which is said to help with the bones and joints of pets.
All you need to do is mix it with food or put it in water.

Some of the services they have for pets are pet hospitals, pet salons, pet hotels, pet classrooms, 24-hour resident veterinarians, dog running spaces, pet adoption centers, and even pet ceremonial services.

Eggs 'n Things
(Hawaiian restaurant)
Eggs 'n Things is a casual restaurant that started in Hawaii in 1974,
and is LOVED for pancakes that come with a mountain of whipped cream!

What we really liked were the 3 flavors of syrup.
Of course, there's maple,
but normally when you see a reddish-pink syrup, you think maybe strawberry.

Then for a white syrup, maybe..something similar to condensed milk?
However, we were totally taken by surprise to find out

the other two syrup flavors were guava and coconut!
Normally in America you pick one syrup and just pour it all over your pancakes,
but what they recommend is mixing it up!
For one pancake, have it with maple syrup,

then another piece, try it with the coconut.
Since it comes with 5 pancakes, it allows you to try each syrup

and finish off with your favorite!

🍍 Pineapple 1,180yen
🍇 Blueberry 1,230yen
****Secret menu tip: Normally the fruit will come on top, but if you would like it mixed in with the batter, be sure to order "fruit in"!

Pancakes aren't all that they serve.
If you look among their recommended menu,
you'll see food of all sorts!
So if you are wanting a more savory "breakfast",

you can try their garlic shrimp, eggs benedict, or a
classic Hawaiian dish spam and eggs.

Eggs 'n Things has a very impressive Hawaiian-style atmosphere.
You will find many Westerners here
since it's one of the few places to eat out for breakfast in Japan!
Of course there are other Eggs 'n Things within Tokyo,
but you can be sure to get a seat right away

unlike waiting for over 2hrs at say the Harajuku chain.

Weber Park
(BBQ Park)
If you are looking for a place to dine at sunset,
please please PLEASE eat at the newly open BBQ area Weber Park
on the top floor of AQUA CiTY ODAIBA.

For those who may not know,
Weber is an American BBQ grill maker that started up in Chicago in 1952.
It's also the first grill maker to create a grill with a lid!
The story is quite interesting,

but apparently, it all started with cutting a buoy in half
to help the meat get cooked properly in the windy city.

It's crazy to imagine that it wasn't until recently an
open charcoal brazier was used,
and that a single man could change the BBQ game.

Now Weber has decided to open its first ever BBQ park in Odaiba, Japan!!

Rainbow Bridge at Weber Park and downtown Tokyo

What makes this BBQ park special is that it's less about
"look at all that you can do on a Weber grill",
and more about "look at how much fun it is to go out and BBQ!"
They don't throw Weber in your face,
they just want you to enjoy the beautiful view,
great food, yummy drinks, and just learn about BBQ on different grills.
The BBQ Park has 3 different grills set up for you to use;
charcoal, gas, and electric all for the same price
(pay for BBQ on one grill, but open to using all 3 if you'd like).
The park has three different menus:
the Japanese Traditional, American Classic, and European Resort.

Pretty soon they will be opening a Grill Academy,
a hands-on lesson on barbequing so keep your eyes out for that!!

It really took the BBQ experience in Japan to the next level
and with it being summer,
there's never a better time than to grill some meat and veggies!
