A Spring Day in Tokyo with TOKYO SKYTREE and Cherry Blossoms!

It's no surprise that so many people love visiting Tokyo during the sakura (cherry blossom) season. Fresh breezes waft pink petals and floral fragrances through the city air, making it a great time to enjoy both the flowers and Tokyo's most popular sightseeing attractions, like TOKYO SKYTREE! Standing 634 meters (over 2080 ft) over Tokyo, it's pretty clear to see why this tower is a must-see on any Tokyo itinerary. The best part of your trip to Japan might just be a day looking up at the sakura of eastern Tokyo, and then climbing TOKYO SKYTREE to look down on the cityscape below.

Enoshima Aquarium - Visit a Tokyo date spot straight out of Japanese TV, and see the jellyfish while you're at it!

Just a little outside Tokyo, and nestled beside the prime daytrip location of Enoshima Island, Enoshima Aquarium (新江ノ島水族館) is famous for its fantastic jellyfish displays. This is probably why it's such a beloved destination for dates on Japanese TV - you'll see Enoshima Aquarium featured in 2010 j-drama Nagareboshi, and the Netflix anime (turns drama and movie) Princess Jellyfish. But this TV setting is very real, and it makes just as romantic of a date spot in real life as it does on TV. Take a special someone, or a group of friends, to check out the aquarium's gorgeous exhibits featuring local wildlife, sea turtle projects, and long history of jellyfish specialization.

Akihabara ➡ Asakusa ➡ Kita-Senju, A Tour of Tokyo's Shitamachi, Accessible in 10 Minutes

Before arriving, lots of visitors to Tokyo imagine it as a bit of a futuristic wonderland. But many parts of the city still beat with the heartbeat of Edo Period Japan, and Tokyo's Shitamachi has plenty of that old-school charm. "Shitamachi" refers to half of old Tokyo, the half that used to be for working-class citizens. With the footsteps of locals through the centuries, tons of interesting history is beat into every street corner. We wanted to spend a day exploring the area, and the Tsukuba Express high-speed train line had us across the city in minutes. Come with us as we check out Asakusa and Kita-Senju!

Driving Our Way from Tokyo to Nagano with Nissan Rent-a-Car: the Nakasendo Route's Naraijuku, Wasabi, and Sakura!

This spring, Nissan Rent-a-Car took us on a tour of Nagano!

Thinking of Japan in the spring, what kind of scenery crosses your mind? Flowers coming into bloom? Cherry blossoms showering passers-by with pink petals?

Nissan Rent-a-Car x JAPANKURU
Nagano・Spring Tour

This time around, the JAPANKURU team grabbed a Nissan rent-a-car in Tokyo, and drove east into the mountains, towards the prefecture of Nagano.
The trip showed us the full palette of Japan's spring colors, with the green of tree covered foothills, the brilliant white of snow-capped mountains, the bright blue of the warm sky, and the flush of spring sakura.

Grab a paintbrush, and let us show you where we went!

When you think of Japanese alcohol, you normally think of sake.
But Japan's whiskey knowledge and appreciation has gradually been
becoming world famous!

In fact, Japanese whiskey is becoming #1, surpassing Scotland!
At the 2017 World Whiskies Awards, Japan won 3 awards in the competitive categories of the World's Best competition.
TWO of those whiskies, might we add, are Suntory whiskies!
So after knowing that, of course we had to go check out the distillery for ourselves!!
